Hi, I'm Amy Wang, a classical clarinetist and educator based in Sydney

Trained in the United States at top music conservatories, I’ve performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and bring over a decade of international experience to my boutique teaching studio in North Sydney.

My Story

I’ve always believed that music has the power to shape who we are.

I grew up in New Zealand,  where I discovered early on that I wanted to be a musician. I was fortunate to have inspiring teachers who showed me the discipline of learning an instrument and joy of music making. I began with piano, later picking up the clarinet, and eventually realised there was nothing I wanted more than to become a professional musician.

At 15, I was accepted into Interlochen Arts Academy, a prestigious American boarding school for the arts. I jumped at the opportunity and left home to pursue my musical dreams. Over the next decade, I earned my Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree in Clarinet performance in the United States, performed at venues like Carnegie Hall, co-founded a music collective, and collaborated with incredible musicians from around the world. It was also during this time that I discovered my passion for music education.

I began teaching one-on-one piano and clarinet lessons, which led to classroom teaching in children’s musicianship, theory, and music history. I found the challenges and rewards of teaching deeply fulfilling, and pursued university pedagogy training to further develop my skills. After years of dedication to teaching, I was thrilled to join the faculty at The Diller-Quaile School of Music on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, an inspiring institution with over 100 years of history, known for its excellence in early childhood and instrumental music education. Over the past ten years, I’ve worked across summer music camps, pre-college programs, and leading music institutions throughout New York City and New Zealand.

After returning to Auckland during the pandemic, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening my own music school. Today, having relocated to Sydney, I continue to share that same passion for teaching, offering personalised, high-quality clarinet instruction in a warm and supportive environment. I’m dedicated to helping my students grow as musicians and as people, just as my teachers once helped me.
